Worker Rights

Families are working harder than ever, and getting less and less for their effort. This is a result of a decades-long effort by corporate special interests and right-wing politicians to undermine the power and protections of workers. 

But while the rich and powerful are doing everything to stop workers from exercising their rights, everyday people are organizing and mobilizing in record numbers to build worker power.

Workers know that organized labor means better jobs, higher wages, and stronger protections in the workplace. I’m fighting to expand labor protections to all workers — starting with passing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which ensures that workers are protected and empowered. I also support legislation to raise the minimum wage to $17 per hour.

I’m also proud to lead the effort against Greg Abbott’s attacks on worker rights in Texas, including advocating for federal heat protections—including water breaks—for all workers. That’s why I held a nearly nine-hour thirst strike on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with Texans, to call attention to the immediate need for these protections.
