Food & Agriculture

Our food system used to work better — everyday consumers saw lower prices, and small farmers and ranchers were taken care of. But in the last few decades, there’s been a huge concentration of power amongst the biggest companies, who make enormous profits at the expense of workers, local farmers, ranchers, and consumers.
I’m committed to building a food system that works better for farmers, workers, consumers, and the environment. That includes protecting important programs like SNAP, conservation programs that support families and our environment, and ensuring local food, local farm workers, and local farmers are protected.
I’m also leading progressive policies like the Agricultural Worker Justice Act and the Fairness for Small-Scale Farmers & Ranchers Act to make sure the Farm Bill puts farmers and workers over big corporations. Whether you’re working in a food processing plant, making your living as a small farmer, or buying food at the grocery store — our food system should benefit everyday people, not just corporate shareholders.
