Energy & Grid Reliability

Whether we’re in the middle of a heat wave or a winter storm, Texas should be able to keep the lights on. About 90% of our state’s electricity is run solely through the Texas grid. Because millions of Texans are not interconnected to the national grids, they are susceptible to losing power in the extreme cold or extreme heat — when Texans need reliable energy the most.
That’s why I introduced the Connect the Grid Act — so we can connect the Texas electric grid to the surrounding national grids, prevent mass power blackouts, save money, and help combat the climate crisis. It’s time to improve reliability, save billions of dollars, and protect our planet. It’s time to connect the grid and deliver power to the people!
In Congress, I’m a proud co-lead of the CHARGE Act to increase utility reliability across the country. Any federal legislation tackling the climate crisis gives Texas the opportunity to become a global leader in renewable energy and craft a bold, sustainable vision for our energy industries.
