WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) led 87 members of Congress calling on Donald Trump to reverse his partisan firing of a top government official in charge of collecting data on U.S. jobs. They warn that Trump’s firing could “harm the creation of jobs and reduce investment in America” by undermining businesses’ ability to rely on crucial government data used to plan investments.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas), joined by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan), introduced the Stop AI Price Gouging and Wage Fixing Act, the first federal proposal to ban companies from using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to set prices or wages based on Americans’ personal data.

The bill would prohibit practices like an airline raising prices for an individual after seeing her search for a family obituary or a ride share app paying a driver less after seeing that she visited a pawn shop.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) led a letter alongside Congressman Gabe Amo (D-Rhode Island), Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut), and 30 other members of Congress calling on the Acting Inspector General for the Department of State to review potential corruption illegally benefiting Elon Musk in the State Department’s handling of trade deal negotiations.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (TX-35) alongside Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) and Congressman Jonathan Jackson (IL-1) led 14 members of Congress in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for him to support a free and fair electoral process in Ecuador.

Ecuador’s runoff election will take place April 13th. 

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Greg Casar (TX-35), Joaquin Castro (TX-20),  and Lloyd Doggett (TX-37) released a letter urging the Trump Administration to reinstate staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The letter warns that large cuts proposed by the administration could increase wait times at VA hospitals and reduce access to critical care.
