The New York Times: U.S. Is Said to Consider Reinstating Detention of Migrant Families

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) releases the following statement in response to news sources stating the Biden Administration is considering reinstating migrant detention centers.

“Locking immigrant families and children into cages along the border is dangerous, ineffective, and wrong,” said Greg Casar (D-Texas). “It is dangerous and wrong to incarcerate refugee children, regardless of political party or administration. The Biden Administration did the right thing by ending family detention. We can’t go back.

“We can help bring stability to countries across Latin America, provide safe, legal pathways for immigration, and protect safety and human rights in our country – without caving to anti-immigrant fear mongering.”
