NEWS: Congressman Greg Casar on New Oversight Committee Report Proving Trump Pocketed Millions From At Least 20 Foreign Governments As President

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas), a member of the Oversight Committee, released the following statement after a new Oversight Committee report and new documents produced by Donald Trump’s former accounting firm, Mazars USA LLC, establishing that while former President Trump was in office, he received at least $7.8 million from 20 governments, including the governments of China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Malaysia, through his businesses. This is in violation of the emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution.
“Donald Trump lied to Americans and made millions of dollars from foreign countries while he was President, violating the U.S. Constitution,” said Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas). “He remains the biggest Grifter-in-Chief in our nation’s history. I joined the Committee on Oversight and Accountability to tell the truth, hold powerful officials accountable, and investigate corruption — we’re going to do just that.”
After years of legal battles, Trump’s accounting firm had to comply with a subpoena of records, producing the report released today. Trump received at least $7.8 million from foreign governments during a two-year period of his presidency. This figure reflects payments to just four of the more than 500 entities Trump owned while he was in office: Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York, and Trump World Tower at 845 United Nations Plaza in New York.
The foreign payments to Trump identified in this report are likely only a fraction of the total amount of foreign payments he received during his presidency. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comerworked in coordination with Donald Trump’s attorneys to end the court-ordered document production between Mazars and the Committee, preventing Committee Democrats from continuing to work with Mazars to conduct further searches for responsive records, including documents relating to Russia, South Korea, South Africa, and Brazil.
