NEWS: Congressman Greg Casar Delivers $500,000 Federal Investment in Hemisfair Small Business Support

September 4, 2024

SAN ANTONIO – Today, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) presented Hemisfair officials with a $500,000 check for the redevelopment of the RCA Pavilion constructed during HemisFair ‘68 to invest in small business activation at Hemisfair.

“Small businesses and working families are the economic backbone of San Antonio. Today, we’re bringing taxpayer dollars home to support those small businesses and families at Hemisfair,” said Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas). “After a long hard day of work, everyday people deserve to enjoy quality time with their family in the heart of San Antonio.”

“The rehabilitation and subsequent leasing of the RCA Pavilion will provide immediate benefits in the form of job creation and new business development, as well as long-term impacts on downtown San Antonio’s financial resiliency,” said Hemisfair Conservancy Executive Director Susan Steves Thompson

The federal funding was made possible through the Community Project Funding process for the Fiscal Year 2024 spending bills. Hemisfair officials applied for the grant through Casar’s office last year. It was approved in the first round of the appropriations government funding packages that passed the U.S. House on March 6 and signed by President Joe Biden on March 9, 2024.
